Based in The Wurundjeri (Eltham, Victoria), though I’d be happy to travel anywhere and everywhere!

My urge is to create a natural manifestation; to generate something beautiful that no one else sees; to develop a moment in time within the location and environment around me. Natural energy is what inspires and generates my work.

Say G’Day!

Hey, I'm Alex, but most call me Colchee. I’m a Yarra Valley, Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Bloody-Anywhere wedding photographer.

My top three core values are fairness/justice, humour and bravery, and I try my best to incorporate these characteristics when I'm photographing. I am brave with my creativity, and I bring humour, kindness and respect to each moment when connecting with my subject and clients.

Exploration, creativity, and adventure drive and ignite my passion for photography. I aim to exemplify the beauty of nature; to convey the array of colour and brightness that people and landscapes hold. I feel a bond and connection with my photographs, as it makes me feel alive, and motivates me to go out and seek what the world holds, to explore and uncover hidden gems.

I love working in the environment of a wedding day. I try to 50/50 bring my energy and characteristics into the day but also sit back and let everything unfold naturally.

Staged photos? Only if you want them – otherwise I slip easily into the landscape of your wedding day, like a chameleon in a jungle. If you need direction, I can do that, if you need me to disappear into the crowd like I'm one of the guests I can do that too. It's your day; you decide how you need me to support you.

I strive to evoke an appreciation of beauty, not just within me, but for others who view my work and to enrich a sense of fulfilment and pleasure. I hope you experience these feelings with my photographs.

JOY

JOY

Who doesn't want to immerse themselves in a day filled with joy, laughter, and love? It's no secret that weddings are the best part of being a photographer. I feel proud knowing the integral role I've played and humbled knowing I've been part of something so special.

STORY TELLING

STORY TELLING

Every wedding is the chance to tell the story of the couple who are getting married, and I love capturing the unique connection between them. Wedding photography is a story art-form, and the bride, groom, and guests provide the narrative. The characters, action, emotion, scenes, and themes are right there, ready to be captured through the eye of my lens. Every wedding is unique, and at times, you have to move with the elements. Sometimes these challenges capture the most alluring moments. Your ability to be flexible and work as a team means we get the greatest chance of presenting your story.

CAKE

CAKE

Umm..nuff said? Food is what binds a group of people together, and what's better than an incredible cake to seal the deal? I know that sometimes there's a lot of cake left-over. Don't worry; I'll give it a good go. I love cake. That way, you won't feel guilty in the morning if you didn't have any!

Fun facts:

  1. I like pizza.

  2. I like making lists.

  3. And I like to boogie (exhibit A).

I want to be your mate; make you feel like I'm just another guest at your wedding - but I’ve got some cameras strapped to my body.

Black and white wedding photography by Colcheedas Photography.

I'm a cake-loving, adventure-seeking, humour enthusiast, with a fine arts degree and a penchant for puns (and alliteration). I capture the raw moments of beauty that occur on your wedding day, so you can get busy marrying the cheese to your macaroni (sorry, I couldn't help myself).

My style is a mix of candid and posed photographs, and I help you curate the day to include your preferences. I'm there to keep you as comfortable as possible, becoming like an old friend; you may even forget that we just met. If you're a little nervous about being in front of the camera, my calm nature will be reassuring to you.

What I do

I immerse myself in the atmosphere of your wedding day, enabling you to spend as much time with your family and friends as possible, but I will also create some beautiful portraits that you can proudly hang on your wall to look at for years to come.

How I do it

I have an easy-going down-to-earth approach, and I take the time to get to understand YOU and just want to be good mates with you, which means you can relax knowing I am capturing the most exquisite moments of your day.

Do you know those times during a ceremony where every wedding guest has a tear in their eye?

How about when the best man's speech has everyone doubled over with laughter?

I will not miss those moments.

Or, when you finally steal a minute alone with your new husband or wife, and you look at each other and think 'what on earth just happened?'  You won't really be alone; I'll be there, snooping around with my cameras, ensuring these snippets of time are not missed.

I will seize those memories, so in years to come, you still remember the exhilaration you felt when you married the love of your life.
